Rare and in excellent condition. This impressive table lamp was hand blown in one piece and therefore truly can be called a masterpiece of glass art. It is a design by Sidse Werner from 1985 and was produced by Holmegaard Glassworks. The Phoenix model was made in two versions of which this is the largest version (height: 36, diameter: 40 cm). The white, opal glass material lends the light a pleasant appearance. The original stickers are on the side and bottom of the lamp. The sticker on the bottom is numbered, which indicates that this lamp is an unica. The Danish architect and industrial designer Sidse Werner (1931-1989) studied at the College of Architecture and Industrial Design in Copenhagen. In her first years, she worked at the studio of Nana Ditzel and founded her own studio in 1970. She designed designs for furniture, carpets, lamps and accessories. She soon gained international recognition through the design of her umbrella stand (1971) and the "Coat Tree" coat rack (1972) for Fritz Hansen. She became famous in the global world of design and exhibited in cities like London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Cologne, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Stockholm, Milan. A number of her designs were incorporated by museums in their collection. Very successful were her designs for glassware and lamps for the Danish company Holmegaard, such as, for example, the pharmacist lamps. Holmegaard was founded in 1825 as a small glass works of bottles and has gradually become a leading manufacturer of glassware.
