Fabergé Eggs are jewels shaped like Easter eggs, which Peter Carl Fabergé and his jewellers produced between 1885 and 1917, commissioned by the Russian Tsar, to serve as Easter gifts. A characteristic feature of the 52 produced eggs is that they are all unique and made of precious materials such as gold, platinum and gemstones. After the Russian Revolution, these eggs were scattered across the globe. Ten of the eggs disappeared, and sixteen are in private possession. Five are owned by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and a large number of eggs are exhibited in various museums. Fabergé eggs are currently very valuable and some are worth millions.
