Sistrum is considered to be the oldest best known percussion-idiophone musical instrument. This Ethiopian sistrum - tsenasil is very similar to that of the Egyptian sistrum and is made of metal frame equipped with 4 movable metal disks loosely suspended on a wire which jingle or clash as the instrument is shaken. Tsenasil is strictly a religious instrument used in Orthodox liturgy during chanting and liturgical dance.
. The Sistrum is handcraftet by the lost-wax method, and is unique.
