The portrait of the actress diva Vittoria Lepanto attracted many Belle Époque artists, above all Pietro Scoppetta. In fact we know two other versions: one on the antique market, one auctioned by Blindarte, and in both cases these are pastel works of limited size. This work is therefore unique in its kind both in size and technique, to which we add the not insignificant detail of the crucifix that the actress wore only in the portraits made by Scoppetta, an element that denotes an emotional closeness between the artist and the diva. In fact on the back there is a handwritten inscription with dedication to Lepanto. Also on the back are the inscription and stamp of the old Giosi gallery. Painting analysed with solvents and examined under Wood's lamp. No restorations and alterations of the pigment. The signature is coeval. After these tests we can confirm the authenticity of the work, with a certificate of authenticity from our gallery with photos, as required by the law.
