Super ATP Ebel British Military Wristwatch.
ATP, standing for Army Trade Pattern. During WW2 the MOD commissioned 16 companies to make a Wristwatch for Army Use. Amongst the 16 chosen, Ebel, answered the Governments call.
Ebel made two ATP Watches for the Government, one with the Push through case which is most commonly seen when these Ebel's Surface and this screw back case that is much lesser seen.
Ebel Calibre 99, manual wind movement.
The Movement is wonderful and clean whilst ticking away strongly and keeping good time within a minute or so a day but as with all Vintage Watches I cannot offer any gaurentees on Timekeeping and I always recommend that you have the Watch serviced before regular use.
Movement retains its original movement ring.
Dial is in very good order for it's age with bit of patina throughout the middle of the Dial but nothing major at all. The luminous spots around the Dial have faded away over the years. This is the original untouched Dial that was made for MOD use and it's lovely to see such a nice survivor.
I believe these hands to be Incorrect, as Ebel's were issued with the Mercedes style hands. However they are certainly of the period and fit perfectly so makes me wonder if these were "Service" hands, where they were replaced by the MOD Watchmaker during a service. However who knows, and I just want the buyer to be aware that they are not the original hands.
Stainless Steel Case, which is in very good order, with a few age related marks but nothing major at all and most importantly this is unpolished.
17mm lugs.
A new Acrylic Crystal has been professionally fitted.
On a new NATO style strap which Compliments the watch very well indeed.
Case measures approximately 32mm and 34.5mm with the Crown.
Overall, a rarer screwback Ebel ATP Wristwatch, certainly one for the collector.
. There are no guarantees given on timekeeping. Timekeeping is not overly tested and Vintage watches may gain or lose a few minutes per 24 hours I consider that to be keeping great or good time for a vintage unserviced mechanism. If you wish to have spot on accurate timing then I recommend you get the watch serviced before regular use.
Case Sizes: I list approximate case sizes, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are happy with these Sizes. The Photos are close up to ensure I get as much detail in as possible, please do not use the photos as a guide for Sizing...use the measurements that I have provided.
