This lamp was designed by Louis Kalff (1897–1976) and manufactured by Philips. Due to its design this lamp is often indicated as the Z model, but the real model name is "Decora". The lampshade is made of aluminium and it is varnished with a matte black paint. The black colour combines beautifully with the gold colour of the stand. The inside of the lampshade has a light colour to increase the reflection of the light. The lamp is marked with the Philips logo on the lampshade and underneath it. Besides being a designer, Louis Kalff was also a successful architect. The shape of the lampshade is recognisably in the same design as the Philips exposition centre "Evoluon".
